I just wrapped up another incredible Yoga Academy International 200hr teacher training.

As per usual I felt a massive urge for calm and quiet and a little alone time when it wrapped up. There was no better place to capture that then Apoyo Lodge, at the base of a volcanic crater lake in Nicaragua.

Apoyo Lodge is a dream realized for owner, Miriam. Originally from Spain, she settled in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua some years ago where she met her love.

She dreamed of opening up her own retreat center and had started looking for land near the beach town.

On a random trip one day she ended up at Laguna de Apoyo. She saw the crater lake and fell in love again. Soon after she bought Apoyo Lodge and started manifesting her passions into a reality.

Miriam’s vision was to create a tranquil and private retreat centre. And she has done exactly that!

Passionate about veganism and organic lifestyle, all of the food at Apoyo lodge is vegan,  gluten free and made on site.

The food was so fresh! Some of the best quality and variety of veggies I’ve had in Nicaragua!

If you are a yogi or a yoga teacher- this is the perfect spot for a meditation or silent retreat. It is so peaceful!

There were little touches everywhere like fresh cut flowers in the room (which totally warms my heart) and handmade locally sourced shampoo, conditioner, soaps in the shower.

There is love poured in everywhere.

The gorgeous yoga deck faces the lake with a quaint massage loft above it, perfect for bodywork.

To my surprise, the lake is warm! Apoyo Lodge even provided inner tubes to float around in.

The lodge is only 40 minutes from the quaint town of Granada and just over an hour from the airport. With direct flights to Managua from Houston and Miami, it’s doable for even a long weekend. Boe joined me for a few hours to catch a swim and some lunch on his way to the airport. Then I had another entire day to indulge on my own. 🙂

Apoyo Lodge is totally tranquil and charming… Oh also, Miriam is getting married in February – so maybe as a wedding gift to go her space.
