Overcoming the biggest roadblock when trying to turn your passion into your profession

Hi Yogis,
Today so many people are running full speed toward their dreams. We stand back and watch as those around us seem to have thriving careers and get to seemingly do whatever they want.

The digital nomad lifestyle is becoming ever more appealing.

I truly believe that it is completely possible to turn your passion into your profession. In fact I know it is possible, because I have done it.

Over the course of my career as an international yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, retreat leader, yoga travel writer, jewelry designer and instagram influencer, I have faced doubt more times than I’d like to count. It came from everywhere and all around but most damagingly, within myself. There was no way I could succeed at the life of my dreams if I did not overcome the self-doubt inside me.

Doubt is not your gut speaking.

Doubt is not your gut speaking. It is not that intuitive voice that tells you what is right and what is wrong.

Doubt is your education trying to protect you from the scariness of the unknown. Doubt is your brain assimilating everything you have learned about life and putting a negative spin on it in order to keep you from jumping into something that may or may not be fruitful. That being said, if you don’t jump in the water, you’ll never learn to swim. If you never learn to swim you will always be afraid of the ocean. If you’re afraid of the ocean, you’ll never learn to surf… catch my drift?

One tool that has helped me tremendously to overcome the self-doubt I have faced is mantra meditation.

 

Here are my 3 favorite mantras to overcome self-doubt:

1. I deserve to live the life of my dreams
2. I have all the tools and all of the knowledge that I need to achieve the life of my dreams.
3. I am enough. I have enough.
