ICELAND in a camper van

It has long been a dream of mine to sleep on the road. I love going with no plan, having everything I need with me but nothing more. I’ve done plenty of traveling, camping, touring but I had never before gone on a roadtrip in a vehicle we could actually sleep in.

Iceland is incredibly safe, beautiful, sparsely populated and truly the perfect spot for this kind of adventure.  I had romantic dreams of pulling a car up in front of a vista and tucking myself in over cliff faces and ocean views. Thanks to Affordable Campers, that is exactly what happened.

WELLNESS IN BONAIRE

RETREAT yourself!!I came to Bonaire with a man I barely knew. I met him at a yoga festival less than a week before he agreed to come with me to an island he’d never heard of with a woman he’d spoken to for less than an hour.I trust my gut.I have a good […]

City Layover: Kuala Lumpur

On the way back from my yoga retreat in Bali, I laid over in Kuala Lumpur. I was blessed to be welcome into a dreamland of luxury and service, the likes of which I never knew existed. I stayed at Villa Samadhi. Of course it is so fitting that the name of this garden of Eden […]

City Layover: Vancouver

Last March I went  to Bali to lead a yoga retreat. It is a FAR and LONG flight from Costa Rica and required some stopovers. The first layover on the way there was in Vancouver. The way back, Kuala Lumpur. To my great luck I stumbled on two of the best, comfiest, sweetest, most homey […]

Top 10 reasons to love Antigua, Guatemala

Top 10 reasons to love Antigua, Guatemala. I recently fell in love with Guatemala. The reason for going? The flight was so cheap it seemed stupid not to. For less than $80 return I could get a city break, a haircut and have a chance to play dress up. I took it. There are so […]

7 travel tips to stay healthy anywhere in the world

Travel tips to stay healthy anywhere in the world Lauren Rudick

Hola de Antigua, Guatemala! On a whim I decided on a short city break; a vacation from Jungle/Beach life in Costa Rica where I could actually brush through my hair, take a hot water shower and wear makeup without it melting off of my face. Sometimes you just need to girl out and doll up. […]

REASONS TO LOVE PORTUGAL: CHARM, CULTURE, HISTORY

adventures in portugal Lauren Rudick

Portugal, what a place! For some reason visiting Portugal never made it to my travel wish list. Maybe because it’s not the most popular stop on the classic western Europe pub/bar crawl many Canadians take in their 20’s. Or maybe because when I is take my very first backpacking trip in Europe I wasn’t surfing back then. […]

ADVENTURES IN MAINE

We set out on our Northeastern adventure, headed to chase surf, visit friends and whale watch in the maritime provinces of Canada. The drive was far and long so I looked at a map to see what might be directly between Montreal and Nova Scotia: The great state of Maine. As a child I spent all […]

What to bring to a yoga conference

What to bring to Yoga Journal Conference? I LOVE yoga conferences. They are a wonderful opportunity to meet, mingle with and learn from the crème de la crème of folks in the yoga industry. Yoga Journal conference in particular brings together super high quality programming with an awesome fashionable yoga marketplace. It’s kind of like […]

3 cliches that came through when I almost got arrested in Central America

You know all those times your Dad reminds you to bring a photocopy of your passport with you when you travel? As it turns out, that ain’t worth squat.

As I found out upon insisting I be boarded onto the next plane to the true North Strong and free, internationally, it is virtually impossible to travel without a passport no matter how many governmental connections you have in your home country and pieces of ID cards you posess.
